Starting a blog with some Illustrator friends. I’m excited about it, so wanted to do an illustration in honor of the group. The self-inking octopus.
Letterpress and Handmade Cards
Starting to gather my resources and getting ready to ship out the cards. The cards were letterpressed from the good folks over at Mamas-Sauce.com. In addition to those, I’m stamping the front and hand sketching a quick image on the back. So for now I’m hand-drawing 100 cards.
Illustrations for LBJ.com
I’m finally putting up the illustrations I did for the LeBron James website. They were originally going to be vectors but I decided pen and ink to give the lines some textures. It ended up becoming a good mix of both in the end. Of course all these were done before “The Decision” back when I was optimistic about his future with the Cavs. Still a Cavs fan and next year looks promising. To be a sports fan in this area – “Hope springs Eternal.”
You can see the illustration here used as a background on his site, lebronjames.com
Old MixTapes Never Die
Here’s an old mixtape I had from years ago, recently I was going thru my “junk” drawer and came across it. The sad thing is, I don’t have anything left in my house to play the whole tape with. I do remember the first song, which should be the most memorable song on a mixtape. The song was the tape’s namesake Trash by New York Dolls. Here’s what I remember:
Trash
Trash - New York Dolls
He hit me (it felt like a kiss) – The Crystals
Snow Surfin’ Matador – Jan Davis
Gimmie My Radio - The Donnas
The Sketchbook Project 2011
Stoked to participate in this year’s Sketchbook Project. I’ll keep posting progress on this as time goes on. This theme is Morning & Night.
Thousands of sketchbooks will be exhibited at galleries and museums as they make their way on tour across the country.
After the tour, all sketchbooks will enter into the permanent collection of The Brooklyn Art Library, where they will be barcoded and available for the public to view. Anyone can participate in this – http://www.arthousecoop.com/projects/sketchbookproject

Moon
Also can be seen here on dribbble.
I watched this twice this weekend, I’ve heard about this movie for quite a while. Amazing visuals. There are so many symbols in this movie – GERTY’s emoticon, The Lunar logo, the harvester I was overwhelmed with all this great imagery. I needed to sit down and draw Sam in the moon, but I expect there will be more illustrations inspired by Moon.
