There and Back Again

Bilbo Baggins

A tale by Bilbo Baggins. I’m reading The Hobbit again after I read it so many years ago. So There and Back Again is appropriate for the time that’s gone by and re-reading a classic story. I have also seen the trailer for The Hobbit which already looks pretty amazing. This illustration was inspired by what I’ve seen of Russian versions of The Hobbit.

Seth’s Blog – Words of Wisdom

Saw this on Rogie’s blog – A quote from Seth Godin. This really struck me how true this is…

Assembly Time

Avengers Assemble

Almost Avenger time. I’m still a Batman fanatic, but the Hulk was always a favorite. I was working in downtown Cleveland when they had the set going for this movie, it was interesting to see the street and destruction they had going there. Looks to be an entertaining movie.

Rue’s Song

Mockingjay in Progress

Mockingjay

Daily sketch after finishing the Hunger Games this weekend. Definitely an exciting read. Still have to see the movie. I still have to read the next 2, but I am distracted by really wanting to read the Hobbit. The first shot is a process shot of the bird working in Manga Studio. I’m enjoying these brushes that Ray Frenden created. Such an amazing artist, check out his work.

Moebius Hommage Tribute

Moebius Tribute

Jean Giraud
1938 – 2012

It’s hard to not be compelled to draw something in honor of someone who inspired you. I’m doing a sketch based on the Moebius art for Metal Hurlant #4. It’s just my own take but with the subject of the master. So, here’s where I started last night.

Sushi Time

Watched Monsters Inc. last night with my daughter and sketched out this character. I always really liked this guy, and although it’s a quick cameo, he’s quite memorable.

Merlin

MerlinScrn

If I could have a falcon, it would be a Merlin. Also called the Pigeon Hawk, it is probably the scrappiest bird in the world. Merlins have been know to attack bald eagles and other birds much larger than themselves, even go after cars and trains.
More about Merlins here.

Yeti character studies, colors and yes, some clothes…

yetis

Working with some colors that I like for these fellas. You can see the full color line up here.
